Do you have to be Catholic to attend St Gabriel's School?
We are a Catholic School and ask all students and families to support the Catholic ethos and values in which our community is grounded. We have children from diverse religious backgrounds as well as those who have no particular faith, all of which we respect, welcome and celebrate in our community.
Which secondary schools do the students go to after Year Seven?
Our students go to a number of secondary Catholic and Government schools once they have completed Year 6. When enrolling in a Catholic secondary school priority is given to students who have attended Catholic primary schools.
Catholic secondary schools in our area include:
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College - Enfield - Girls
St Paul's College - Gilles Plains - Boys
Blackfriars Priory School - Prospect - Boys
Mt Carmel College - Pennington - Coeducational
Kildare College - Holden Hill - Girls
When can my child start school?

Children start school when they are five years old. At St Gabriel's we have two Reception intakes a year – at the beginning of Terms 1 and 3.
From 2014, children will start school in South Australian Catholic Schools only at the beginning of Term One each year.
This new policy is called Same First Day Start. It means that children will start school on the first day of Term One each year and that all children will spend the same amount of time in Reception, one full year.
If your child turns five before May 1, they will start school on the first day of Term One in that year. If your child turns five on or after May 1, they will start school on the first day of Term One the following year. The minimum age for starting school will be four years and eight months from 2014.
How many students are in each primary school class?
St Gabriel's School follows recommendations from Catholic Education South Australia regarding class sizes.
In Reception and Year One the maximum number of students is 25 and from Year 2 to Year 7 this number is 29.
Do you have a Before and After School Care Facility?
Yes, we do. We have facilities for Out of School Hours care.
Does the school teach religion to everyone?
Yes we do. Religious education is at the heart of our curriculum.
